Chatsworth House

Day 13

Chatsworth House is incredible!  For all you Pride and Prejudice fans, it is Mr. Darcy's house in the Keira Knightly version.  They are renovating the front of the house so we didn't get the full effect, but that didn't take away from the beauty of the inside. The best part... We got to take pictures inside the house!!!   That will probably be way more interesting than what I have to say... So we'll get to the pictures.

The front was under renovation.

Beautiful attention to detail.

Beautiful!

The staircase that Keira Knightly walks up!

Detail of the interior.

Even some modern art!

I want a bed like this!

The ducks wanted to eat all our food.  He's funny.

We demolished a chocolate cake at the end.  The people in the table next to us said they'd never seen girls demolish something that quickly, and then clean it up as well as we did. hehe

Harry Potter's Castle

Day 12

On our way back from Scotland we visited Alnwick Castle.  They filmed some of the scenes from Harry Potter here.  Now I just need to see the movies.

A view of the Castle.

A window in the outer wall.

The grounds here were incredible!

This fountain was unlike any I've ever seen.

To top off our Harry Potter Adventure we found Platform 9 and 3/4 at King's Cross Station.  Cool huh?

Scotland!

Day 11

I loved Edinburgh.  It atmosphere was laid back, and fun.  The people were kind.  And the architecture was incredible.

The Edinburgh Castle.

The cathedral.

A real statue!

Don't cut her hand off!!  This street performer was interesting.

I should have bought this had.  I loved the all the plaid, and I got some great scarfs!

Artwork out of furniture!

Tie Dyed chair!

Fun with paint!

I even made my own pin out of recycled material!

The gardens by the Green Fair were gorgeous!

Bath Spa

Day 9

I loved Bath!  It has a quaint feel, but there is lots to do!

We visited the Roman Baths.  Such an amazing piece of history!

The cathedral.

I bought a CD from this guy.

British Museum of Art and Portobello Road

Day 8

Today we visited the British Museum.  They had the Rosetta stone, and some great artifacts from Ancient Egypt.  I was completely in love with the Egyptian color schemes. I can't wait to reference my pictures and use them for projects later!

The ceiling of the museum. Isn't it fantastic!

I loved these door handles at the museum!

I know the one of me is a bit blurry, but I loved these columns from ancient Greece. It was amazing to see them close up!  They were huge!  The next pic is the columns outside the British Museum. They were so cool!

Next we found Portobello Road, which is known as the worlds largest Antiques Market.  They did have some fantastic antiques.  There was definitely some flatware and some gorgeous furniture I wish I could have taken home with me.  I did find a fantastic scarf.  It was amazing.  As we were walking home I saw this graffiti on a building!  I love it!

This was actually a clothing store on Portobello Road.  They have antique sewing machines for their window displays and on some of the walls, as you can see here.  The clothings was ridiculously expensive, but fun!  I loved the idea of using the sewing machines to brand a store! Very creative.
